The Banking Insurance and General Workers Union (BIGWU) will be heading to Industrial Court after Republic Bank refused to back down on the newly passed policy which stated that all unvaccinated Republic Bank staff have to produce a negative PCR test result in every fortnight.

This decision came after BIGWU and Republic Bank came to a stalemate in The Ministry of Labour and the ministry was asked to issue an unresolved ‘Trade Dispute Certificate’ which will allow the union to refer the matter to the Industrial Court.

The matter was heard before the Ministry’s senior conciliator, Bridgette Ignatius, and the hearing lasted around three hours.
